This past weekend, I went with a group of friends to ski and snowboard in Park City, Utah. Highlights from this amazing trip:
-On the way from the airport, we stopped at a 7-Eleven to pick up beer. While deciding on whether to stick with Miller Lite, or pick something else as well, we stumbled upon Polygamy Porter, an actual beer made by a microbrewery in Park City. Slogan: “Why have just one”
-Somehow, Check On It (Beyonce ft. Slim Thug) became the theme song of the trip.
-There were 12 in our group, and we stayed in an amazing house…4 rooms, plus a loft with more beds, sweet living room with bar. It was in a perfect location…literally steps away from Main Street (the quaint part of town) and the lift to take us to the slopes.
-Somehow, when playing circle of death, it was decided that whoever pulled a King would have to dance to Check On It on the bar.
-Mike, Megan, Chris and I found a little cove between some trees off one of the runs and spent a good half hour there eating the untouched powder. Straight off the ground. No hands. Like dogs.
-The whole dancing on the bar thing may have been initiated by me voluntarily doing so. I can’t remember.
-Sachin fell off the chairlift. I didn’t see it, but GODDAMN THIS POST WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER IF I DID!
-Sachin danced to Beyonce on the bar and I did see that.
-Aside from our group (which was 8 girls, 4 guys), I think girls don’t generally go on group ski trips together. It was only after arriving at Park City that we realized its unwritten nickname: GIGANTIC-SAUSAGE-FEST.
-One of the nights, us guys decided to have a competition on who could talk to the most girls (not in our group). The other guys said I was the loser, but I like to think of myself as the guy who struck out least.
-Like junior high kids, we thought it would be funny to “pants” Sachin while he was playing flip cup. He went on the defensive, and this is the result:
-I surprised myself with my own snowboarding abilities. I was able to successfully board down some black diamonds. And by board, I mean slide down on my ass because I fell and the force of gravity was so strong that I could not stop nor stand back up.
But seriously, I actually did do pretty good and was able to get down some double blue squares. I was even able to do some tricks:
Hey what’s that? Looks like a little rail or something. Wonder what that’s doing there…
Oooh look, someone is snowboarding on it!
Is that Amish riding that rail? Damn, he is so totally gnarly!!!
What’s he doing now? That doesn’t look right…
Damn….that is so NOT gnarly.
In addition to the pics taken in multi-shot mode, I was able to grab some videos..
The first one is titled “Damn, almost!”
I haven’t decided on a name for the second one. I’m thinking either “That didn’t hurt as bad as it looks” or “I totally meant to do that, I swear!”
