A surprisingly nice (I didn’t answer the phone because I expected worse) voicemail from my Ohio State friend after Saturday’s game:
Just calling you to congratulate you on a well played game. We came up on top but you should feel proud for your boys for keeping it close.
I won’t talk much else about the game. I am proud…proud like a parent whose 4.0 child just came home with a B in his favorite subject. We played well, but not well enough.
I generally don’t ask for much, but this holiday season I’m asking for:
-Notre Dame over USC. Rooting for the Irish sucks, but I have no choice. (Yes, I realize UCLA is a choice, but I’d rather not have to rely on the Bruins, so ND it is.)
-LSU over Arkansas, Arkansas over Florida. Alternatively, FSU over Florida, Florida over Arkansas. With apologies to my Gator friends.
-A girlfriend (dude’s got needs…)
-A rematch. Nuff said.
